The Wave of the Future: Chatham Week 6
Who would have thought years ago that we would be flying drones for fun and using 3D printers like it was no big deal? These are the things that International Ivy dreams of! Our campers love Drone Programming and 3D Printing!
In Drone class this week each student builds there drone and then learns how to program it with lights, sounds, and movements. The Jurassic Park Theme song ran wild yesterday while the campers were learning the code to put sound into there Drones. Today they will be flying the Drones in order to practice controls and movement.
3D Printing is also coming up with some great designs. They use a programming software that allows them to manipulate different shapes and given objects into anything you want. We have tower designs coming along and camper who is so in love with chess that he has figured out a way to make the chess pieces to 3D Print. Later on in the week, I am excited to see the elaborate landmarks that the campers come up with.
3D Printing and Drone are great classes because they allow for a tangible take away. The 3D class takes their items home everyday and at the end of the week, the Drone class gets to take there Drones home and play with them all the time. As we look into the next camp season for these two classes, we are pleased to announce that next year we will be offering Drone Advanced and 3D Printing Advanced. The students will be able to develop more elaborate projects and code more complicated objectives with their drones. We are so excited for our new offerings and hope the campers will be too!
