It’s the last week of camp at International Ivy and we’re going out BIG with eight classes! This is the first time the Basking Ridge location is hosting both AM and PM sessions and we are excited to see our campers’ smiling faces all day long! In the AM, the Action Flix campers have started to brainstorm the plot for the action movie they will direct and act in! They created the characters, plot, and resolution before filming today. Meanwhile, Engineering with Arduino
began by learning about circuits and how to complete them. Today they used a program similar to C++ in order to light up the bulbs in their circuits. And for our last morning class, Lemonade Stand Entrepreneur, campers started off playing a virtual lemonade stand game in which they had to manage their inventory based on the weather conditions in hopes of making a virtual profit. Today, they created their own lemonade recipes in preparation for the real camp-hosted lemonade stand at the end of the week!
As for our PM classes, the Adventure Quest class has been participating in all different types of team and individual games. Today, they each received a small piece of pipe, and their task was to work together to move the marble across the room by rolling it down their pipes without letting it drop! In the Shark Tank class, campers are learning about goods and services, and developing their own inventions. Teams began researching their “competition” to see what similar items already exist, which will assist them in appropriately pricing their products. Down the hall, the Virtual Reality class has learned the basics of coding which has equipped them with the skills needed to create their own virtual obstacle courses, similar to the ones on the show “Wipeout”. The Comic Creation class has been working on both digital and paper projects. Our campers are enjoying having the freedom to create comics in their own style, whether that be digital, sketching, or even flipbooks! And lastly, our Electrical Engineering campers have been gaining experience with a kit called Makey Makey, which is a circuit board used to connect objects to a computer, turning them into mice or computer clicks. So far, the campers have created their own controllers and are playing a game with one another! So many exciting things have happened already, and there are so many more to come. Check back later in the week for more updates! tags: ActionFlix, Engineering, Lemonade Stand, Shark Tank, Virtual Reality, Comic Creation, Coding
