The last week of camp may be coming to a close, but our campers sure are busy in class! For starters, the Action Flix horror comedy film is really coming along! The campers spend the majority of class filming their scenes using techniques and vocabulary that professional actors and directors use. Engineering with Arduino has created miniature “pianos” out of wires and tinfoil, so that when a tinfoil “key” is tapped, a note plays! And lastly for our AM classes, the Lemonade Stand campers have created flyers, posters and commercials to advertise their stands. Tomorrow is the big day, and the rest of camp can hardly wait to try each recipe! As for our PM classes, Adventure Quest is primarily working in groups, which allows them to practice both teamwork and effective communication skills. One of their challenges included building a freestanding structure using only eight hula hoops! The Shark Tank class has continued market research on their inventions and are now developing sales pitches for the end of the week. The staff members are so excited to act as “Sharks” tomorrow and choose whose products to invest in! Meanwhile, Virtual Reality created collisions, shared them with one another, and then voted as a class on their favorite. For the remainder of the week, campers will be creating virtual roller coasters! Our programmers in Electrical Engineering with Makey Makey also created a “guitar” similar to the popular game Guitar Hero, by coding bronze keys on cardboard. Comic Creation is continuing to finetune and finish up their comics. The artists are so talented and we can’t wait to see their finished products! On behalf of all the staff members at International Ivy Basking Ridge, we would like to thank all of our amazing campers for an incredible summer and we hope to see you next year!
