A New Take on the Declaration…

It was THEME THURSDAY in Short Hills yesterday as campers dressed in red, white, and blue while also participating in a “mad-lib” competition. Each class had the opportunity to choose their own words without knowing they were filling in blanks for our nation’s Declaration of Independence! Our panel of counselor/site director judges chose the top 3 versions to be read to the whole camp. After each mad-lib was read, each class voted for their favorite version of the Declaration of Independence!
Congratulations to our Virtual Reality class led by our awesome teacher, Ryan! Here was their creation:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all CHICKEN NUGGETS are created equal, that they are endowed by GAVIN with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of CHEEZ-ITS — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among EL PACAS, deriving their just powers from URANUS — That whenever any IVY WORKERS becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the MCDONALDS WORKERS to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their HAPPINESS. RAAHIL, indeed, will dictate that Government’s long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by DOING NOTHING.
