Chatham Week 4: Escape from the Heat
Chatham July 17th, 2019
What a busy day in Chatham! It was a hot one outside today and the campers were very excited to be inside in their classrooms. Robotics battled some bots out in the morning and in the afternoon, they built a T-Rex. Scratch and Fashion Design have been working so hard on their games and their designs, they took a brain break led by the Leadership Team class. Creative Writing is working on fiction stories and adding in funny anecdotes, while Public Speaking did some activities with eye contact, breathing, and projection to get ready for presentations. Our Virtual Reality class is working on creating roller coasters and adding individualized features to their designs. In Comic Creation, it’s all about the individual designs. The story telling and amazing graphics are really coming together.
In Chess class, Site Director Nicole was one of the students trying to learn strategy. They practiced how to corner the king in order to get check-mate and one of the campers explained to our Site Director what castling was. The Minecraft class loved working in teams to develop amusement parks, zoos, and water parks. Down the hall, App Design has began creating and coding different types of mini games, while Hopscotch programming is an amazing new class that uses the Ipads to program. Anatomy talked today about blood type and how blood is important to the body. Canvas painting dazzled us with their paintings of owls and sunsets.
The hardest working group might be our Youngsters. In the morning they are building robots, doing yoga, completing math problems, and playing logic games. During the afternoon session, our future computer techs of America are programming their Dash robots in order to learn more about coding. They love playing and learning new things! We are so excited for what tomorrow will bring. Check out the YouTube Channel for videos on the classes!
