Fun Day Monday in Chatham Week 4!
Chatham July 15, 2019
Mondays in Chatham are always a fun day! With new and old faces walking through the door we are excited to start the week. We start off our day with greeting all the campers in the cafeteria and then sending them off to their classes. This week we have some exciting first time classes for the summer, like Fashion Design, Youngster Dash & Dot, and Hopscotch programing. With some classic classes like Minecraft Math and Robotics also joining, this week is jam-packed with awesome classes. During morning break we played a dramatic game of capture the chicken. Lunch was filled with gaga and tether ball, and finally during afternoon break campers played a very impressive game of Park Ranger. Overall the whole day was filled with fun, friendship, and learning!
Dash & Dot in the afternoon created their first code, in which their robots flashed colors and moved in different directions. Fashion Design created designs out of only three colors, including a duck blowing bubble gum. These will soon become dresses. Robotics built claw bots. They were team players and created a robot that picks up an object and loads it onto another robot.
WeDo built Lego alligators that open their mouths when an object is in front of their mouth. They coded on the computer to make this all work using both technology and their motor skills.
Canvas painting started their first painting of a sea floor! They learned the art of blending backgrounds and how to start the process of painting from the rough sketch to canvas! Our Youtube class started filming their first scenes for their new videos and they are soon to be youtube stars! Anatomy was using microscopes to examine bees’ legs. And finally our afternoon Leadership class designed an obstacle course for the Youngsters Dash+Dot class to navigate their Dash bots; it was a great way for both classes show off their skills.
