Who are the teachers?
A significant number of our teachers are certified educators in both public and private schools throughout New Jersey. There are also experts in certain fields who serve as instructors such as Mr. Bill Wisch, a professional magician with over forty years of experience. The remaining number of instructors are college students and college graduates who are extensively trained to teach our curricula. All of our teachers and adult counselors have been background-checked in accordance with the standards of the American Camp Association.
What do I have to send in with my child?
All materials used in class (e.g. robotics, laptops, pencils, paper, fabric) are provided by the Program.
Families are responsible for sending in snacks and water bottle for their children and should mark their containers clearly.
For full-day students, families should send in lunch. For Short Hills, Caldwell, Chatham and Paramus, families can purchase lunch.
If your child is taking a technology class, we suggest sending in a flash drive to save work that the student creates in class.
Please pack your child a change of clothes and a towel if they will be participating in Wet Day on Wednesday.
Do you have extended day?
There is always a complimentary 30-minute pick-up and drop-off window for our families. For example, full-day students can be dropped off between 8:30 am and 9:00 am and picked up between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm.
Extended care is available in Short Hills and Chatham.
Extended before-care starts at 8:00 am. The fee is $50 per week.
Extended after-care is until 6:00 pm. The fee is $50 per week.
Families must register for the entire week.
If parents are late to pick up their children, they will be charged $1.00 per minute.
What is your cancellation/refund policy?
Refunds are not given for any absences or unused parts of the class. Our policy is we do not offer any refunds except when the Program cancels a class due to insufficient enrollment, in which case parents can (a) transfer a child to another class or (b) take a refund or credit.
As a courtesy, we can transfer students to other weeks, other sites or other classes based on availability.
What if my child is a few months younger than the age range listed for a class?
We have a policy of plus or minus 6 months. For example, if the age range of a class is “10-14”, a child who is 9 and a half at the time of the class is permitted to register for the class.
What is the student to teacher ratio?
Course sizes are restricted to 12 students. On an as needed basis, a counselor will be placed in the classroom to further assist students.
Can I buy lunch?
Full-day campers can buy lunch for $50 a week at certain locations (Short Hills, Chatham, Oakland, Wayne). You will receive a lunch menu at drop-off on Monday to select your child’s meals for the week.
Do you offer financial aid?
Yes, we believe all children would benefit from the International Ivy experience. For this reason, we do set aside a pool of funds for financial assistance. Financial assistance is offered in the form of discounts between 20% to 50%. We do not give full financial assistance. Please go to the Forms section of the website.
How can I find out more about classes?
Other than the class descriptions in the catalog and on the website, please check out our blog posts written by our students and counselors about their experiences. Additionally, visit our YouTube page to view videos or Flickr to view pictures of our program in action!
If you still have questions, please contact us at info@iisummer.org.
